2020 Cohort

In February 2020, LifeAgain selected the second batch of beneficiaries onto the program. Ten (10) teenage mothers were selected from Charia, a community in the Wa municipality of the Upper West Region. Based on the interest of the beneficiaries, two (2) of them were enrolled onto a 3 years apprenticeship training in tailoring to become fashion designers, three (3) were enrolled onto a 3 years apprenticeship training in weaving and five (5) are set to be enrolled back to school. LifeAgain paid for their admission forms and fees and also bought them all the items they needed to start the training. Items such as sewing machines, uniforms, weaving tools, scissors, tape measures among others were given to the beneficiaries.

Adding to the financial aid, LifeAgain recruited five (5) mentors and has paired them with the 10 beneficiaries to share their stories and experiences with them to inspire and motivate them through their journey of career building. Each of these mentors were once teenage mothers but have been able to go back to school or have learnt a vocation and have successfully built their careers.

Also, we organized sex education and contraceptive use sessions for them where we invited experts to enlighten them on safe sex to avoid subsequent unwanted pregnancies.
