Breaking Gender Stereotypes (Challenging Gender Roles)
As part of efforts to redistribute unpaid care work to reduce the burden of domestic work on women and girls to allow for their meaningful participation in education, work and other aspects of life, we launched this project. The first edition of the “Men cook to break gender stereotypes” took place at the Wa Naa palace and brought together 10 organizations (local NGOs, Government departments and corporates). Each of the organizations presented a maximum of four men who took part in a cooking competition to showcase their culinary skills but most importantly to educate the general public that domestic work such as cooking and others are not the sole responsibility of women and girls but everyone in the family including men and boys.
