Upcoming Project

PLANS FOR 2022

For next year, the LifeAgain team plans on launching another campaign called #LeaveNoGirlBehind. This campaign seeks to achieve the following;

  • Reduce teenage pregnancy cases, especially in our operational region
  • Get stakeholders such as parents, chiefs, government, NGOs, etc involved in empowering teenage mothers

Most of the time in our Ghanaian society when a girl becomes pregnant, she faces rejection from everyone including parents, friends, teachers, community leaders, etc. Basically, she is neglected by the very people who should have supported her out of the situation. Ideally, as stakeholders, we all wish that our girls do not become pregnant but rather complete their education and get empowered. However, the reality is different and instead of supporting these girls to be empowered, we leave them behind which continues to widen the gender inequality gap that already exists because while the girl is left behind, the boy who got her pregnant gets all the support he needs to continue with his education. This campaign seeks to bring together stakeholders to see the need to join in empowering teenage mothers since LifeAgain cannot do it all alone.

Below are the activities we intend to carry out next year to achieve the campaign goals;

  • Deliver Sexual Reproductive Health Education to 2000 adolescents in school and in the communities. Also, make contraceptives available at community health centers for adolescents to have access to.

  • Mentor Series;                                Share the inspirational stories of our mentors (ladies who were once teenage mothers but have empowered themselves and are now successful) to the world as evidence that a teenage mother can still be successful when supported to pursue her dreams. The purpose of the mentor series is to change the mindset of people, especially some parents who believe that once a girl becomes pregnant, it is over for her and she cannot achieve anything in life thus they give up on the dreams of such girls.
  • Stakeholder dialogue/engagement;                                                                                Engage stakeholders, especially parents and community leaders to dialogue on how to end the practice of marrying off pregnant girls in most communities in Northern Ghana and the need for them to get involved in empowering their girls.
  • Radio discussions on the campaign and the need for everyone to join in promoting it
  • Support more teenage mothers;                                                                                  While carrying out the above activities to reduce teenage pregnancy and getting stakeholders involved in our vision, we will continue to directly empower teen mothers. For next year, we intend to support 20 teenage mothers back to school and 30 in entrepreneurship next year.

CONCLUSION

The #Empower50TeenMothers campaign we launched early this year to empower 50 teenage mothers as a way to reduce the damage caused by COVID 19 resulting in about 110,000 teenage pregnancies in the country has been successful. Thanks to your generous donation, we exceeded our campaign target of 50 girls to about 100 girls. Thanks for believing in our work and helping us to touch the lives of vulnerable girls who would have otherwise had their lives destroyed but now, they have a second chance to pursue their dreams and aspirations.

We would be grateful if you could continue to support us in our vision of creating a world in which teenage pregnancy is no hindrance to girls’ empowerment. Your donation was instrumental in achieving our #Empower50TeenMothers campaign and we would be grateful if you could again support us financially to implement our next year’s campaign. Also, we would be grateful for recommendations for sponsorship or partnership with individuals or organizations in your network to enable us to implement our campaign which will transform the lives of many girls.
